💙 Kindness Projects

The Smurfs are all about community, kindness, and looking out for each other — and so are we! These sweet ideas help kids spread a little happiness, from surprising other families on walks with Smurf-tastic kindness rocks, to leaving a blue-tastic trail of positivity.

Smurf It Forward Kindness Rocks

Rachel’s family — five kids strong — turned kindness into a playful mission by painting blue rocks with sweet messages and hiding them around town. But for Rachel, this project was more than just fun. It was a reflection of the beautiful chaos, creativity, and connection that defines her crew. With one child who is autistic and has limited spoken language, Rachael has learned that bravery and teamwork can take many forms — sometimes it’s painting a rock, sometimes it’s sharing it, and sometimes it’s just showing up.

This sensory-friendly, inclusive activity was the perfect way for her whole family (yes, even the baby with the blue mustache! 😂) to Smurf it Forward in their own unique way.

In our house, ‘teamwork’ means someone paints the rock, someone hides the rock, someone licks the paintbrush, and someone else proudly announces the rock is now their ‘pet.’

— Rachael Benion, publisher of Macaroni KID Harrisburg-West Shore, PA

🕒 Time: 1 hour (plus paint drying)
👶 Best for ages: 2–102
🛒 Materials: Rocks, blue paint, markers, sealer

Smurf Kindness Trail

Devon and her daughter created a kindness trail with cheerful Smurf-blue notes hidden along a walking path. Featuring messages like “You’re blue-tiful just the way you are,” this feel-good activity spreads smiles and promotes community. 💙

One little boy even shouted, 'Look, Mom! The Smurfs were here!' That made it all worth it.

— Devon Sayre, publisher of Macaroni KID Greater NW Houston, TX

🕒 Time: 30–45 minutes (+ walk time)
👶 Best for ages: 2–12
🛒 Materials: Blue paper, crayons, tape, optional lamination

My family and I are excited for the new Smurfs movie because it brings back that magical mix of adventure, humor, and heart that my husband and I loved in the original cartoon when we were growing up. We can’t wait for our kids to experience the fun in this new version!
